Heading in a new direction

Just thought I'd throw up a little taste of what's to come. I'm moving to a new format, more of a classic comic strip rather than a full page. This will mean being able to read a full comic without having to scroll and more frequent updates during the week. A period of experimentation is ahead.

Birthday Delay

This week we've been celebrating my birthday and my son's birthday, so during all the fun and frivolity today's Hermit Hill comic didn't quite make it to completion. Don't worry, Walter and the gang will be back in action next week.

Chasing Critters.

Time to give Walter a little work out after his sleepy ways last week. I really enjoyed drawing the little animals. I'll have to develop those guys a bit and keep them around.

Here's a page I was doodling on last night while watching TV. Trying to work out some issues I have with Walter's character design. I still feel I may have made him too complex. I would much rather boil down my characters to look more iconic, like in the comic strip B.C.

Politics!

Like everyone else I was glued to the TV last night and no matter who you voted for yesterday you can't deny that history was made. It was an inspiring night. I don't draw a lot of political stuff in my work, but I did do this cartoon last year and it's the closest I have to being relevant to the election, so I'm posting it now.

I went through a phase in 2007 of being interested in doing one panel cartoons. At the time, the iPhone had just come out and was getting more press than the building presidential election and so I drew this cartoon.

Can we take to task... any politician... or serious topic... through silly drawings? YES WE CAN!

The Big Event.

Happy election everybody! Just a touch of politics in today's strip, but it mostly just shows Walter's indifference to the outside world. I had the opportunity to cast my vote early last week, so here's hoping nobody does anything monumentally stupid in the final hours that would make me regret my vote. Although, after over a year of this circus I doubt anyone has anything left hiding their closet.
